Whenever we go down to the beach, I always get fresh stuff to bring home and freeze. I think it tastes better than storebought frozen stuff. And I am really craving some étouffée right now. Even though it's breakfast time! Means you are feeling great.

I too grew up on fresh seafood, Creole being one of my favorites, except I was raised in Charleston, SC, but we had creole anyway. I can remember my mom frying or boiling so many shrimp for supper they covered a cookie sheet, piled high.

Every New Year's Eve our neighborhood had an Oyster Roast. Not one of my favorites, but can still hear and smell them being steamed under burlap bags over a fire.

The things we remember. Glad you are feeling better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28403347.post-60188371404372947482009-02-01T22:19:00.000-06:002009-02-01T22:19:00.000-06:00Living in a Gulf coast state is a good thing! Just dipped in batter, kind of like a tempura batter, but I'm sure it had flour in it. Those were pretty rare though. Shrimp boils, creole shrimp, shrimp cocktail, shrimp étouffée, gumbo, shrimp rémoulade, etc., etc, etc. I haven't made some of those in a while and am thinking étouffée should be on the menu this week!Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08018172805489963981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28403347.post-49140700284947647532009-02-01T18:27:00.000-06:002009-02-01T18:27:00.000-06:00I should have been born in the south!
