Mellow Yellow Monday #4
Mellow Yellow Monday photo meme was started by Drowsey Monkey at Mellow Yellow Monday. This might be a challenge for me as I don't recall making a lot of photographs with yellow as the dominant colour. When I opened My Pictures one folder quickly caught my eye - Chihuly. I love Dale Chihuly's work and try to see his glass whenever possible. In 2002 he did an installation at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. That was the first time (but not the last) that I went to one of his garden exhibitions. They are just unbelievably fabulous. And he uses many colours of glass. Perfect. This image is a close-up of some of the yellow flowers he had floating in a pond there. The flowers are 2-3 feet across and en masse are quite striking.
I'd like to see his works too...that's a great capture. Thanks for introducing to us Chihuly's work.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. From the photo it's hard to tell whether these are glass or real or what!

ReplyDeleteI love Chihuly, too! In fact I was going to use some of his glass next week! Great minds think alike :-) He is so awesome! These are great! There is a really great Chihuly website, if you haven't been to it. It's at www.chihuly.com

ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful glass bowls.
ReplyDeleteI love glass work! These look very similar to a red piece I have, but mine's not Chihuly. This is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteI envy you having seen his works up close and personal.
ReplyDeleteBecky, you are into everything and I really do learn a lot from you. I've enjoyed researching Chihuly today and look forward to a time when I can see his work in person. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm really not familiar with him but I would love to see his works!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting..
wow - so pretty! I'd love to see this in person...the photos are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much. He is just fascinating to watch.
ReplyDeleteI was first introduced to his work over 30 years ago. Besides the garden installations, he has works in many museums and other public places. If you are ever in Las Vegas, go to the Bellagio lobby and look up. The entire ceiling there is covered in his flowers. He also has works in really small places too. A beautiful blue piece hangs in a bank in Racine, WI. In Philadelphia, the National Liberty Museum has a multi-story sculpture in mostly reds called the Flame of Liberty. It is also awe inspiring.
His exhibits are not just in the USA, but world wide. Not much is on the schedule for this year, but check his website.
