I was looking at my previous posts (what few there are) and decided to do an update on figs. The drought and Easter freeze in 2007 killed everything down to the ground. Italian Honey Fig recovered in stalk growth last year, but did not have any figs this year. The TN Mtn Fig got moved to a new spot and seems to be doing OK, but no figs. The Camel Fig came through fine and is growing well. It will get moved to it's permanent location in the spring. Two Ranch Figs have survived in the flowerbed by the back door. They will also get moved in the spring. Both of them will go next to the corncrib, where hopefully the slab floor will retain some heat to help their roots. Here's hoping 2009 is a good year for figs.
