Donna, my CRNP, called from Vanderbilt. Blue Cross performed a miracle and approved me in less than 24 hours. My friends, your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes sent through the universe worked! My donor has been activated and they have let them know it is URGENT. All I know about my donor is that he is a 22yo male who lives in the USA. After a year I can find out more (like who he is) if he is agreeable. So now we will see. I am excited. And I am nervous. All at the same time. The exact timing of Day 0 is in the hands of the donor. He will have to get a bone marrow biopsy and several days of neupogen shots before making the donation. They tell me I might know more about a date toward the end of the week. Hopefully my donor is not getting ready to go off to Italy or someplace for a vacation.
My platelets were 3000 yesterday before transfusion. I go to the eye doctor this afternoon to get the retinal hemorrhage checked. It isn't bothering me and doesn't seem to have gotten any worse. Then I go back to my doc here tomorrow and get more platelets. Donna cautioned me to be extremely careful. Don't be exposed to any more people than necessary, don't bump into anything, don't use knives, etc. I can be careful. Yes I can!
Thank you all so much for all your support so far. I appreciate it so very much and will be needing it even more in the time to come. It is a wonderful thing to have so many people in my corner.
