Geaux SAINTS

Twinkle twinkle little star,
The WHO DAT NATION has come so far.
Our Saints have met their lofty goal,
They've won a spot in the Super Bowl!
Let's get back to the nuts and bolts
And finish off those Indy Colts.
Now bring that trophy back to our camp,
Along with the title:
SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!

I am so thrilled for my home state team. After all these years to make it to the Super Bowl!!! But now I hear some disturbing news. It's all over Facebook that on the day AFTER the Saints won a spot in the Super Bowl, the NFL filed for trademark registration on "Who Dat" and the Fleur de Lis so they could profit from these local traditions! And then they started issuing "cease and desist" letters to local businesses, claiming that they own the copyright to any Fleur de Lis design and any use of the popular phrase "Who Dat". Whether or not you are a New Orleans Saints fan, this is greedy and outrageous! There are groups on FB urging the boycotting of all NFL merchandise, and if what I read is true, then I completely agree. For shame, for shame on the NFL.

Becky...
Now that's a shame the NFL is doing that! Our Indianapolis Lutheran High School's nickname is the Saints. We use the fluer de lis - looks like it might have to change.

Of course being from Indy I whole-heartedly disagree with your poem! While we are happy for NO... Colts are going to bring home a victory! (just some friendly banter folks)

BTW - another H.S. in Indy - Cathedral H.S.'s mascot is the Irish and Notre Dame forced them to change their image.

All of this reminds me of Donald Trump trying to Trademark "you're fired"

GO COLTS! ;)

Kristen, given that you are such an Indy fan, I appreciate that you also think shame on the NFL. I hope your local team doesn't have to change its logo. I'm not quite sure how the NFL can copyright the fleur de lis. That makes no sense. New Orleans has been using the symbol since its beginning. It's on all the water meter covers, etc. around town. Does the NFL think they can make them change that???

I know it's friendly banter, but I will be happier if the Saints have the higher score at the end of the game!

Since the Patriots are not in the Super Bowl this year, I will wish both of my friends good luck for their times.

...and shame on the NFL is right -- they have little to do...Regina
