Dr. Strickland, my hematologist from Vanderbilt, called yesterday morning. They got confirmation that I have one person who is a full match and they are waiting to hear back from four others. One of those had already had their blood sent and the other two were having their blood drawn yesterday. My case was discussed at the weekly transplant team meeting yesterday afternoon and I have been assigned my nurse practitioner (who will be my liaison, contact, etc.) throughout this whole process. He says the CRNP will be calling me soon to set up my 3 days of tests and such.
So it looks like things really are on track for this to happen. I need to call my niece and set up a time for her to cut my and DD#2's hair. Both of us have very long hair. DD can sit on hers. We are going to donate our shorn tresses to Locks of Love. DD's hair will still be long, but mine is going to be very short. I am going to have it permed curly and have red (true red, not typical red hair red) highlights put in it. That way when my hair falls out from the chemo treatments, it won't be like it is MY hair. LOL
This morning I'm off to my doc to see him and get lab work done. Today is also a transfusion day of both platelets and red cells, so I'll be there until sometime this afternoon.
Thank you again to all of you who donate blood and platelets. There is such a shortage and you are saving lives every day.

Becky,
I was so very happy for you when I read this post. Prayers have been answered. It does sound as though everything is on the right track and I am so excited for you. I had to laugh when I read the part about the short red hair. {{HUGS}} to you.

Marvelous!! And I love your idea of losing someone else's red hair~~you go girl!
Glad to hear the good news. Best of luck with the new do. Sounds bold and stylish, just like a Deco Lady. Your positive attitude is almost as amazing as your Chocolate Sandwich Cookie Cake. Both are an inspiration.
Hello Becky. I came to visit you after you left a comment on my blog. My goodness it sounds like there have been some testing challenges in your life. You seem to be such a upbeat person which is so empowering. I wish you well. To answer your question, my cumquat tree has not produced good fruit this year so a marmalade is not looking likely. I have though just posted a jelly recipe if you would care to view that. Nice to meet you.
I LOVE your attitude about the hair! That is fabulous, just like you!
So you know I have connections for very inexpensive wigs if you're feeling sassy in a few months and want a wild new look. :)
