Just another magic (or is it manic) Monday...

Today is having a lot of things packed into it, so I'm thinking it qualifies as manic. Mike is being my chauffeur all day. We have to leave by 7:15a to drop DD#2 off at school, then go to the doc so I can get a CBC and see him. Then, as soon as possible I have to start having platelet transfusions (2 or 3, depending on how many they can get, and hopefully they can even get platelets at that time of day. The blood bank doesn't like to release platelets till afternoon.) When the transfusions are finished we have to dash across town to the surgery centre so that I can be put to sleep and have the port-o-cath inserted. Once I wake up from that, I'm supposed to go back to the doc's and start Dacogen treatments.

Dacogen isn't delivered as a shot. It has to go in an IV and takes an hour or so once it gets started. The surgeon is going to leave a needle in the port so the surgical site won't be agitated any more than necessary. (Duh? It's already being agitated way too much, imo!!!)

I am not really looking forward to all of today's events, but I'm trying to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. Some people have seen results from Dacogen in only a couple of months. IMO, there is no reason I shouldn't be one of those! The schedule for getting Dacogen is the same as what I was doing with Vidaza ~ 5 days in a row, skip three weeks, 5 days in a row. It looks like treatment weeks will take up the entire mornings.

Dacogen is more toxic than Vidaza. The doc told me to expect more severe effects while taking it. I may not be able to do much of anything while on this drug. But I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best possible end result. Kinda reminds me of what my grandmother used to tell me at the beauty shop when I was a little girl and having my hair permed or something equally barbaric, "It hurts to be beautiful." So it may hurt to get well, but if it works it will certainly be worth it. LOL.

Please send me as many good healing thoughts and vibes as you can muster. There is no reason that a manic Monday cannot also be a magic Monday!

Becky:

You have been in my thoughts all day and I pray that your Monday and all of your Mondays are always magical. Remember, sometimes it's like the old saying: "no pain, no gain". However, I sure hope this is a painless journey for you and you have a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Becky, You've been on my mind all weekend. I've been thinking and sending powerfully strong positive thoughts (and prayers) your way.

You're doing great, you have a terrific attitude and strong will.

I hope the surgery went smoothly, take it one step at a time.

Magical Monday blessings to you, and TTYS!

((Gentle Hugs)) ~M.

P.S. That's the way my mom made her beet salad (except she didn't add tarragon), it's my very favorite way of eating beets. As you mentioned, I could eat an entire bowlful, too! I'm going to add tarragon next time. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

Thank you all so much! It means the world to me that you keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I really do feel the support. So far, so good. The surgery went fine and I'll be getting the third Dacogen treatment through the port today.

Mary, I hope you will like the beet salad with the tarragon added. It was so good!
